You are really going all the way in there? Are you fucking kidding me? Get your head out of the gutter :p That was what I was thinking when Bill was running into the water up to his knees to get his lure I got hung on the rocks. The trip to Oguncuit was cool, I like the area up there. It brings back some good memories for me, which was a lot of what both Bill and I talked about. . .memories. I have been thinking a lot about memory lately, things like what am I going to remember this person like? Why do I remember this person this way or that way? It was what I blogged about before on my first girlfriend, but also now, my friend Bill.
Looking inside yourself is not an easy thing to do, it means that you have to revisit some of the worse things you have done in life, and accepting responsibility for those actions. It is a necessary step towards redemption though, and that was a lot of what we talked about as the daylight passed. The topics ranged from "hey remember the time you. . .(insert stupid, ludicrous, ridiculous stunt here) to his daughter, fishing, lobstering, golf and where I lives diverged. Heck, I actually talked to Brad Faxon's business partner for about an hour and a half, as we discussed the relevance of the Glass Spiegel repeal in 99, and the problems it created in the current financial crisis.
There has been a lot that has gone on in each of our lives since then. Loves, houses, lives, kids, lost loves, heart break, survival and acceptance. It was a great visit, and one that reminds you why you have friends in the first place. It is because you can always relate and rely on people when you need them. It is good to have Bill back in my life, and i think it is good for him too. I need to get his butt back on the course and work is cap back down to a 2. I need to get mine below 15 for one season, so it will be a good fit. Besides, it is great seeing people you really cared about in your life, and even though 13 years has past, it was like time stood still.
Cheers,
Michael
