It is amazing to me that the person who sees through the absolute BS, the feigned outrage, and the debacle that makes up today's media is on a comedy station, but we live in strange times my friends, strange times.
Well two nights ago, Jon Stewart completely ripped Rick Santelli who's feigned outrage and cheap poplulistic rant was broadcast on CNBC. This was just classic Stewart, he completely rips the station, their pundits, and all of their completely false reporting which cost people billions of dollars. From the section where Kramer said BOA is going to $60 (it is now $3.50), when he said to BUY BUY BUY when the market was tanking, when he was telling everyone that Bears and Sterns was fine a week before it went bankrupt, to all the other pundits who were completely wrong, it was just great.
I also wanted to add that I got in touch with a few people from my past and I am psyched to be talking to them again. It is great to hear about how certain people who effected your life at one time or another turned out. Growing up in the military, I had a few people who I were really good friends with, as well as people I really cared about, but lost touch over the years. I sometimes wonder if I would have still remained close friends with these people if the internet was around while I was growing up. In any case, it is now, and I am happy to share some of my life stories, my triumphs, tragedies, and thoughts with people from my past. I may never in my life see these people again, or maybe I will, but I can still remain friends with the ones I thought were great when I was younger, and I think even more of them now.
I also want to add something else that I find interesting. The people who I really cared about all have similar likes, dislikes and parts of their lives I can totally relate to in my life as well. Almost all of my friends, from a lot of different walks of life, have similar world views, and care about similar things in life. They all value education, most are liberal or have a central to left viewpoint, and they all seem like great people. I was thinking if I turned out the way I did because of the impact they had on me, or if there were certain aspects about their personality that I found attractive because they meshed so well with my personality. Kind of like a chicken and egg scenario, but I think it was a little of both. I think at a young age, I really connected with certain people for a reason. They were genuine, truly good people at heart, and lived their lives with integrity. I guess I am just smitten to have a few more people in my life that I consider great people, you can never ever have too many great people in your life :)
Peace Out,
Michael
